The department was established in 1395 AH with the opening of Girls' College of Education in Jeddah. Since then, the most prominent objective of the department was to study history in all its branches and specialties such as Ancient History, Islamic History, European History, and Modern and Contemporary History, including knowledge of Arab and Islamic heritage and the role of Islamic civilization in all nations and its impact on modern civilization at this contemporary time, which is the product of Islamic civilization and sciences and knowledge of early Muslems.
